1 September 2015 - 31 August 2016
Get the Message is a project working with young people and teachers from local Special Education Needs (SEN) schools and artists. The project aims to challenge perceptions of disability as a limitation through collaborative activities which champion all forms of communication and self-expression.
Through encounters with contemporary art practice both in galleries and working with artists, Get the Message offers innovative approaches to working with young people with profound and multiple learning disabilities.
This year, artists Adam J B Walker and Emma McGarry are working with students from the The Bridge School in Islington and The Village School in Brent, using the exhibitions and their experiences at Camden Arts Centre as a starting point towards creating artwork.
The year will culminate with an exhibition of students' work and a series of events in July 2016.
Get the Message has been running since 2002. Watch a short film from our archive about Get the Message here. Made in 2014, by Hydar Dewachi.
