Painting: From Image to Abstraction

10 June - 8 July 2018

Sundays, 10.30am – 1.00pm

This course considers the process of painting, from image to abstraction. Over the course of five weeks, participants will explore working on un-primed surfaces and experimental ways of engaging with materials. Demonstrations will focus on marking-making, staining and the ways in which texture and variation can be achieved through the speed and pressure of the brush. This course is suitable for all levels and abilities.

Hannah Hewetson will lead this course. Hannah studied at the Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art, Oxford and Glasgow School of Art. She has exhibited in London, Glasgow and Mexico City, and was selected for Creekside Open at APT Gallery and Beep Painting Prize, Swansea. In 2014 she was featured in Thames and Hudson, 100 Painters of Tomorrow. Read more.
