Drawing: The Figure in Context

26 April - 24 May 2018

Thursdays, 10.30am - 4.30pm

This course explores a variety of approaches to drawing the figure in context with their surroundings. Over the course of five weeks, participants will be encouraged to develop narrative compositions from the starting point of a posed model, using a variety of media. Each full day will include structured tuition on composition, figure and portrait drawing, alongside exercises in drawing from observation and secondary resources. This course is suitable for all levels and abilities.

This course runs over full days. There will be a break for lunch between 1.00pm and 2.00pm each day. Lunch is not provided.

Jake Spicer will lead this course. Jake is a painter, tutor and author of a series of books on drawing; he is Head Tutor at Draw (Brighton) and a co-director of the Drawing Circus. Jake's work focuses on the figure and on using drawing as a means of exploring the visual world.
