Making & Unmaking, curated by Duro Olowu (b. 1965, Lagos), is the latest in our series of artist-selected shows. Duro Olowu is a celebrated fashion designer whose bold innovations with pattern, colour and shape reveal his early influences living between Nigeria and Europe, and his ongoing fascination with the world. His fluency with diverse aesthetics can be seen in the clothes he makes as well as the exhibitions he has curated, which combine antique textiles with his own fabric designs, bringing together discordant colours and patterns alongside disparate cultural forms.

Camden Arts Centre publishes a File Note for each exhibition and residency in the programme. The File Notes began when Camden Arts Centre re-opened in 2004, following building renovations. Each one contains a specially commissioned text, written by a critic, writer or fellow artist, giving insight in to the exhibition and the artist’s practice, as well as supporting images, reading, viewing or listening lists compiled by the artist. Designed by Practise and Sara de Bondt Studio and printed in a run of 1,000, the File Notes are collectables and can be collated in a specially-designed File Note binder.
