The original polystyrene is pitted and scarred from its previous life around the studio as packing material, insulation and table top. Added to these naturally acquired marks are two finger gouged holes which immediately become eyes, shifting the inert object in to a world of subjectivity and reference. The works are made from polystyrene cast in jesmonite, the mould is painted into directly and the paint transfers to the surface of the cast. These pieces are part of a body of works made by casting in this way, bringing objects with a peripheral materiality to the centre of my practice.
