Please join us for a special evening to celebrate the launch of Vitamin C: Clay and Ceramic in Contemporary Art (Phaidon, 2017), a global survey of 100 of today's most important clay and ceramic artists, chosen by leading art world professionals.
The evening with begin with a panel discussion 'Why Clay? Why Now' led by the book's editor and art critic Louisa Elderton, featuring three of the book’s artists: Tommaso Corvi-Mora, Emma Hart and Clare Twomey. It will be followed by a drinks reception and an opportunity to purchase the publication.

Louisa Elderton is a contemporary art curator, writer and editor. She is a regular contributor to magazines including Artforum, Art Review, Frieze and Flash Art. As an author, she has contributed to numerous exhibition catalogues and features in Phaidon’s books Vitamin P3: New Perspectives in Painting (2016) and Universe (upcoming, 2017). As an editor, she has produced monographs on Rachel Howard, Tim Noble & Sue Webster, Francesco Clemente and Jonas Burgert. She is Project Editor of Phaidon’s book Vitamin C: Clay & Ceramics in Contemporary Art (upcoming, 2017), and is currently producing the next in the Vitamin series (due for publication in 2018).
Tommaso Corvi-Mora began working with contemporary art as a curator and writer, then in galleries in Milan and in Cologne. In 1996 he opened the Robert Prime Gallery with Gregorio Magnani featuring artists such as Angela Bulloch, Isa Genzken, and Jim Isermann. In 2000 he opened Corvi-Mora, now in Kennington, representing both British and international artists, including Dee Ferris, Dominique Gonzalez Foerster and Roger Hiorns.
Emma Hart lives and works in London. In 2016 she won the Max Mara Art Prize for Women in collaboration with the Whitechapel Gallery. In 2015 she was awarded a Paul Hamlyn Foundation award for Visual Art. Recent solo and two person exhibitions include: Love Life, with Jonathan Baldock, Peer, London, The Grundy, Blackpool, De La Warr Pavilion, UK (2016-17), Big MOUTH, Grand Union, Birmingham (2015); Sticky, Austrian Cultural Forum, London (2015); Spread, Art Exchange (2015); SUCKERZ, L’etrangere, London (2015), with Jonathan Baldock; Giving It All That, Folkestone Triennial (2014); Dirty Looks, Camden Arts Centre (2013). In 2017 she will present solo exhibitions at the Whitechapel Gallery, London and the Collezione Maramotti, Italy.
Clare Twomey is a British artist and a research fellow at the University of Westminster who works with clay in large-scale installations, Sculpture and site-specific works. Over the past 10 years she has exhibited at the Victoria and Albert Museum, Tate, Crafts Council, Museum of Modern Art Kyoto Japan, the Eden Project and the Royal Academy of Arts. Twomey is actively involved in critical research in the area of the applied arts, including writing, curating and making. She has developed work, which expands the fields’ knowledge of larger scale installation works.
