The English House

Shin Egashira was Artist-in-Residence at the Centre in July and August 1991. Students of art and architecture took part in workshops during these months, working on individual components within the installation, The English House. They looked at the idea of an English life-style by examining such subjects as mantelpiece adornment, holiday postcards, shopping trips and making homes for pets. Their contribution to the piece were the three-dimensional results of these explorations.
