Sandro Setola - Camden Art Centre

Rotterdam-based artist Sandro Setola used sculpture, drawing and multimedia to relate a darkly humorous vision of the modern city.

His work springs from particular realities and creative possibilities of public space.

In drawings and a sculptural installation he created a physical fiction of a religious or utopian cult conceived during his time in London. Setola’s design of the building where this imaginary cult would meet was both convincing in detail and intended as an unrealisable plan or scenario for an alternative life.

The exhibition followed Setola’s time as artist-in-residence at Camden Art Centre. The residency was part of the Mapxxl European exchange programme for young artists from twenty-six participating countries.
