Sandro Setola

23 September - 2 October 2005

Rotterdam-based artist Sandro Setola uses sculpture, drawing and multimedia to relate a darkly humorous vision of the modern city. His work springs from particular realities and creative possibilities of public space.

In drawings and a sculptural installation he has created a physical fiction of a religious or utopian cult conceived during his time in London. Setola’s design of the building where this imaginary cult would meet is both convincing in detail and intended as an unrealisable plan or scenario for an alternative life.

The exhibition follows Setola’s time as artist-in-residence at Camden Arts Centre. The residency is part of the Mapxxl European exchange programme for young artists from twenty-six participating countries.
