Photographic technology in all its forms, on television, video and in newspapers, informs our society’s experience. The exhibition brings together recent work by eight international artists whose work explores and questions the nature of this experience. Judith Barry, Ania Bien, Geneviève Cadieux, Willie Doherty, Ulrich Görlich, Jeffrey Shaw, Susan Trangmar and Krystyna Ziach make image environments which demand physical participation by the viewer. Using serial images, slide projections, video beam installations and video the works address a wide range of topics from architecture and culture to history and psychology.
A national touring exhibition organised by the South Bank Centre in collaboration with the Laing Art Gallery & Projects UK, Newcastle-upon-Tyne
