Noëmi Lakmaier

Austrian born Noëmi Lakmaier is interested in environments which unsettle the viewer, inverting traditional roles to produce surprising effect. During her residency, Lakmaier developed works in sculpture and installation, which simultaneously intensify the viewer-subject relationship and highlight the psychological impact of architectural space. By using her own body in the artwork, she challenges her fears of relinquishing control.

The residency at Camden Arts Centre was the first to be awarded as part of the Adam Reynolds Memorial Bursary, an annual bursary for deaf and disabled artists working in the visual arts. It was established in memory of Adam Reynolds by Shape in collaboration with friends and family.
