Open Studio: Salvatore Arancio

Ceramics Fellow Salvatore Arancio opens up his space in the Ceramics Studio to speak with visitors about his current work and research.

Working across a range of media including sculpture, collage, animation and video, Salvatore Arancio’s main interests lie in the potential of images. His work proposes new juxtapositions that are evocative and deeply disquieting, looking to nature and science for inspiration.

As this year’s Ceramics Fellow, Arancio will create works inspired by different forms of representation of the grotesque and the natural and their relationships to popular myths. His research into methods used in traditional pottery workshops will be put towards making a film and a new series of ceramic sculptures.
