Family Outreach Project - Camden Art Centre

Family Outreach Project

Camden Arts Centre’s family outreach project aims to widen the reach of our programme to local families, engaging them together in fun, inspiring, artist-led workshops that creatively empower all involved. During 2018/19 artist Beverley Bennett is in creative residence at Langtry Nursery in Kilburn for the academic year, leading workshops every Tuesday for children aged 2-3 years and their families.

Taking inspiration from Beverley’s practice, families are using sound, music and photography to capture their surroundings. Through documenting the things they enjoy, the food they eat and their family traditions, they will make artworks inspired by the things that matter to them.

As part of this project the parents, carers, children and staff at Langtry Nursery will work towards curating a pop-up exhibition at Camden Arts Centre in March 2019. The exhibition will consist of works produced in the workshops, as well as moments generated from participant’s homes in the form of instructions circulated by the artist. The exhibition will question what does curation mean? Where can it take place? And how do we “curate” the everyday?
