Family Artist-in-Residence: India Harvey - Camden Art Centre

Taking up residence in the Drawing Studio, artist India Harvey developed environments and activities for families inspired by our exhibitions Geta Brătescu: The Studio: A Tireless, Ongoing Space and Paul Johnson: Teardrop Centre.

India Harvey is an artist working and researching in the fields of participatory art practice, landscapes of play, constructed textiles and Neurodiversity. Their current work is concerned with communicating connections between these worlds, and challenging visual engagement as the dominant mode of experiencing art through mainly tactile or non-verbal interventions.

The privileging of sight over touch/taste/smell can restrict and often exclude the involvement of some people in processes of artistic production and engagement. The exploration and development of alternative sensory processes in art is central to the way India makes both participatory and studio based work.
