Masterclass - Drawing from Nature - Camden Art Centre

Masterclass – Drawing from Nature

9 & 23 August

Join artist Jacques Nimki to explore the natural vegetation in and around Camden Arts Centre using drawing, fabric printing, vector based graphic techniques and a plotter to digitally cut out specific designs. The resulting works will be repositioned into their original locations, introducing ideas of representation, site specificity and human intervention in nature. Searching for the unexpected, unusual or simply the beautiful, we will collect various samples, explore ways of cataloguing and discuss our observations.

The masterclass is aimed at those with some experience in drawing and who wish to further develop their skills and share ideas.

Tutor: Jacques Nimki
Jacques works from and within the urban landscape, using mainly weeds and flowers as a way of exploring how we perceive others and ourselves in specific environments. Each work is about the particular site. Researching and ‘walking’ an area, Jacques collects information in a deliberately unstructured way. He returns to these areas to collect plants for drawing, flower pressing and seed collecting.
