Masterclass - Ceramics: Core Techniques - Camden Art Centre

Masterclass – Ceramics: Core Techniques

7 & 14 August

During this master class, we will learn different ways of using press moulds, slab building and surface treatment techniques including adding colour and texture. Through combining, cutting, joining and assembling these techniques, we will create a group of sculptural or functional objects.

The first session will introduce moulding techniques, cutting, incising, and adding texture and colour. During the second session we will explore slab building using prepared slabs for angled forms and soft slabs to create curved forms. This course is suitable for beginners and those wishing to further develop their core skills.

Tutor: Elly Wall
Elly graduated from the Royal College of Art in 2004. She has exhibited both nationally and internationally including at the V&A, The Yorkshire Sculpture Park and The Yard Gallery, in the Netherlands. Her work is inspired by the materials she uses; she maintains the rawness of the clay by working quickly and incorporating the unexpected or making spontaneous decisions during the process.
