Constructing Portraits - Camden Art Centre

Constructing Portraits

This course uses clay and drawing to explore portraiture and anatomy. Students will mould heads from clay with attention to facial construction, muscle structure, contours, age, weight and ethnicity. Drawing directly from the heads that have been made, students will have the chance to develop portrait drawing skills through a deepened understanding of facial and muscular structures. This course is a great accompaniment for those interested in life drawing and the nuances of portraiture. All materials are provided.

Course half term: 27 October

Booking opens 6 June; Book before 30 June for a 10% discount.

Tutor: Alan Stott
Alan graduated from Goldsmiths in 1991 and has been tutoring ceramics for more than 20 years.

I loved the course! Alan is great. I discovered that I love working with clay as well as [having] to practice my drawing. This course is great for my future portfolio for LCF [London College of Fashion].

[My expectations of the courses were to] get the basics of anatomy right both in drawing and sculpture. These expectations have been fully met.  Besides I was given great tips to improve my drawing skills as well as great techniques to add more realistic details on [my] sculpture. [I] would strongly recommend this course.
