Distant Relations/Clann I gCein/Cercanias Distantes - Camden Art Centre

The exhibition bought together work by 12 internationally respected Chicano, Irish and Mexican artists and included painting, photography, sculpture, video and installation.

Mexico and Ireland, apparently two very different countries, have much in common in terms of their history and culture, partly as a result of having developed in the shadow of powerful neighbors. The juxtaposition of works by artists from both cultures not only highlights this common ground, but also creates the possibility for new meanings and dialogues to arise.

The exhibition was curated by Trisha Ziff in association with Camden Art Centre, Ikon Gallery, the Irish Museum of Modern Art, and Santa Monica Museum of Art.
