Rie Nakajima works with installations and performances that produce sound. Her pieces are often composed in direct response to unique architectural spaces, using a combination of kinetic devices and found objects.

Rie Nakajima has exhibited and performed widely both in the UK and overseas and has produced the Sculpture series with David Toop since 2013. With Keiko Yamamoto she has a duet band O YAMA O. Her other frequent collaborators are David Cunningham, Pierre Berthet, Miki Yui, Guy De Bièvre and others. In 2014 Nakajima won the Arts Foundation Award in the category of Experimental Music.
