Temporalities: Full of Leaks - Camden Art Centre

Temporalities: Full of Leaks

Wednesday 10 October, 7.00 – 8.00pm

In the second talk of the Temporalities series, writer Amelia Groom reflects on how sites of non-focus provide a way to reimagine time and its representation.

Co-organised by Camden Arts Centre and the Sotheby's Institute of Art, Temporalities explores artistic practices that engage with notions of time and duration. This new series of talks will focus on media streams and the temporalities of the digital; practices addressing the temporal dimensions of contemporary labour; and artistic efforts to contest imposed cadences.

Amelia Groom is a writer whose recent texts have addressed topics including lichen, pareidolia, ventriloquism, blurs, silence and rocks. Groom completed a PhD in Art History & Theory at the University of Sydney, with a dissertation on ‘disorderly temporalities’ in contemporary art. Since 2014 she has taught on the Critical Studies programme at the Sandberg Institute in Amsterdam. She was also the Theory Tutor for the 2016-2018 Master of Voice degree at the Sandberg. She edited the Whitechapel Gallery / MIT Press ‘Documents of Contemporary.
