Alexandre da Cunha - Camden Art Centre

London-based Brazilian artist Alexandre da Cunha took up residency in the Artists’ Studio, creating new work for his exhibition in Gallery 3

His dynamic, large-scale sculptures improvise on the concept of the readymade and found objects: job lots from pound shops, surplus fabrics and recycled goods, reflecting on their histories and aesthetics. With a playful and humorous undertone, Da Cunha often incorporates plinths or pedestals into his work, examining classical ideas of presentation in relation to where the piece begins or ends.
