Art Theory: Artists’ Moving Image and the Documentary Turn - Camden Art Centre

Art Theory: Artists’ Moving Image and the Documentary Turn

This course will examine how and why a strong documentary impulse has emerged in contemporary artists’ moving image. Taking Ben Rivers’s exhibition Edgelands as a starting point, we will explore through active discussion how artists have interrogated the complex relationships between reality and representation in ways that extend, expand, and contest cinema’s long documentary tradition.

This course is run in partnership with LUX;  the second  session will take place at LUX in Dalston and will make use of their extensive film collection.

No previous experience is necessary.
