Introduction to Painting - Camden Art Centre

Introduction to Painting

This theory course will explore historical shifts using key texts, exhibitions and works that have informed how painting is viewed today. Led by Alastair Mackinven and using Jo Baer’s exhibition and writing as a starting point, the discussion will revolve around the contextualisation of painting, the on-going debate of the death of painting and the abstract/figurative argument.

Alastair Mackinven is an artist and tutor at the Slade School of Fine Arts in Graduate Painting,  as well as a lecturer at Kunstakademie Düsseldorf.
