10 Week Course: Ceramics for Beginners

Perfect for those starting out in ceramics, participants will learn core techniques such as hand-building, coiling, slab work, modelling, press-moulding and simple decorative techniques using slips, underglazes and oxides. Over the course of ten-weeks, participants will be encouraged to develop their learning through their own personal projects.

A series of demonstrations will cover:

  • An introduction to throwing
  • Decorative effects including inlay and sgraffito
  • Hand-building using the extruder

Fredrik Andersson (a.k.a. FreddeLanka) will lead this course. Fred is a Swedish illustrator, ceramicist and sometime writer, who has been living in London for the past six years. He uses bold shapes and colors to produce ceramics, illustrations and comics. Read more.

  • This course is suitable for those with little to no experience of ceramics.
  • All materials and firing costs are included. Size restrictions apply.
