Insights - Camden Art Centre

Insights

Insights is a launch pad for young people in the arts. The project aims to be inspiring, challenging and to provide a platform through which young people can access opportunities in arts education, training or employment. Each year Insights works with different partners from higher education, cultural organisations and training providers.

The project offers practical workshops and is responsive to the high demand for information about fees, admissions, courses, student-life and progression opportunities in higher education. Aiming to increase access within the arts for less privileged young people, Insights engages those who are interested in a future in the arts, especially those who are the first in their family to go on to higher education.

Every term throughout 2010/11, Camden Arts Centre and Insights partner Central Saint Martin’s will each host a series of workshops that invite young people to take part in discussions and practical activities. Visits to Camden Arts Centre will include viewing and discussing exhibitions, engaging in ideas around contemporary art and producing experimental works. Visits to Central Saint Martins will include a tour of facilities, working with students and tutors and trying out a selection of different professional creative disciplines. Participating young people are encouraged to experiment and take risks with these varied media, developing an individual portfolio of work.
