Mike Nelson

During this residency, Gallery III gradually metamorphosed as Mike Nelson worked with collected debris from the streets and markets. Nelson will transform the detritus into objects and tableaux depicting connections between the items and their makers, creating a personal fictional context within the gallery space. Nelson has made site-specific installations for the Academia de Arta, Bucharest, Matt’s and Hales galleries in London and more recently Berwick Gymnasium Gallery, Berwick-upon-Tweed. This project is part of Cutting the Wires, a new series of commissions, residencies and presentations by artists in whose work the idea of a narrative or fiction emerges. The series and selection of artists has arisen through conversations with curator Paul Hedge.
