Volunteer Front of House Assistant - applications open on Saturday 13 February
‘The additional activities mean that in the Front of House volunteering role you’re always stimulated by something new.’ - current volunteer
Camden Arts Centre is dedicated to developing artists, educators and people with an interest in contemporary art. Alongside our education and exhibition programme we also actively engage with volunteers, offering members of the public a unique opportunity to donate time and become part of the organisation.
Front of House Assistants donate a minimum of one day (5-7 hours) of their time a week and help us invigilate our gallery spaces, welcome visitors to the Centre and help them to gain a full appreciation of the exhibitions, events and projects. Front of House Assistants can share their passion for art by leading Guided Tours of the exhibitions and assisting with our Make & Do family workshops. Our volunteers are invited to attend a variety of seminars and workshops and regularly get involved with projects and job shadowing opportunities not available to visitors or paid members of staff.
As the public face of Camden Arts Centre, Front of House Assistants welcome visitors and are the first point of contact between the organisation and the public. Joining Camden Arts Centre as a volunteer in this capacity would ideally suit those that have an interest in the work of the Centre, enjoy interacting with the public and work well as part of a team.
We are particularly keen to work with people from the local area and those interested in joining the team on a long-term basis. Please note that we only take on Front of House Assistants who have availability to volunteer at least one day a week for a minimum of three months. More information about the role of Front of House Assistant and details of the extras we offer our volunteers can be downloaded from the bottom of this page.
How to apply:
We currently have a full team of volunteers working with us as Front of House Assistants. Our next recruitment period will be Saturday 13 February - Saturday 27 February 2016. Applications made during this period will be considered for the role and a small group of candidates will be invited to an informal welcome evening on Monday 7 March 2016. At this event candidates will undertake short informal interviews with Camden Arts Centre's team of Team Leader Invigilators. Successful candidates will be asked to attend a compulsory evening training session on Wednesday 16 March 2016 before starting in the role from Wednesday 23 March 2016. All candidates will be expected to commit their time one day a week until at least Sunday 5 June 2016.
